Academic Process

At Holy Angel School, we offer a rigorous and comprehensive academic program based on guidelines specified by Central Board of Secondary Education, NEP 2020 and a well-organised Syllabi in NCERT text books.

Evaluation & Performance Appraisal:

The assessment and reporting system is based on CCE (Comprehension & Continuous Evaluation) as per child’s academic performance through regular report cards, parent-teacher conferences, and other communication channels.

Assessment Plan of CBSE for the session 2024-25 

Formative Assessment-4 (10% each)

Summative Assessment-2 (30% each)

Total: Formative Assessments (FA) = FA1+ FA2 + FA3 +FA4 =40%

Summative Assessments (SA)= SA1+ SA2 -60%

Total score-100%

 

Components of a Formative Assessment:

Each Formative assessment includes:

1. Two Individual Activities - Recitation, Experiments, Debate

2. One Group Activity - Projects, Role Plays, Group Discussion, Surveys

3. Written Assessment

For Assessment purpose, the average score of all activities will be taken and the final FA will be calculated as the average of the two individual activities, a group activity and the written assessment.

 

Guidelines for Summative paper:

The term-end/summative paper for primary will be of maximum 50 marks. The marks scored will be doubled (multiplied by 2) to calculate the final grades with ease.

The chapters/ topics covered through the formative assessments will not be extensively examined in the summative exam. For example if there are total 7 units being covered in the entire session, out of which 3 are being done in term 1 and 4 towards term 2 then, assessment structure shall be:

Implementation of affiliation norms:

* Holy Angel School is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and has an NOC from Govt. of Haryana.

* Functioned by Holy Education Society registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 vide Registration No.1738 of 1992-93.

* Eight acres of land with building constructed over 2 acres and sufficient playgrounds on 4 acres.

* Highly qualified and expert teachers. The pupil-teacher ratio is 15:1 and section-teacher ratio is 1:1.5.

* Remuneration and admissible allowances are paid to the staff as per Govt. pay scale, Haryana.

 

(Playgroup, Prep 1 & II and Classes I & II):

Students are taught through Experiential Learning Approach where they learn more by doing and practicing themselves. A range of instructional strategies like quiz, crossword puzzles, sudoku spellathon and many more subject enrichment activities are put into practice for assesment in order to compile report of students’ progress.

 

Primary Wing (Class lll to V):

The academic process here is characterised by ’Learning Without Workload’. Creative learning with indoor and outdoor games, bagless days associated with discovery and experiential learning, collaborated with team work, performing art, computer lab activities are some of the pivotal versions of students’ learning in school.

students are assessed during regular class hours based on qualitative observational assessment. Summative Assessments are taken in a manner that summarises the whole year’s learning. Evaluations requiring writing work, are kept for shorter durations.

 

Middle Wing (Class VI to VIII):

Class room learning is re-inforced through experiential learning. Projects, curricular and co-curricular activities are promoted through ’Holistic Education’. Duration for evaluations requiring written work is gradually increased to 3 hrs. Teachers collect and analyse child’s performance on various measures of assessments to come to an understanding of the extent and ability of students to learn through various domains.

Emphasis is laid on expressive and participative functions of language learning from students’ side. Students are assessed on the basis of the teacher’s continuous observation and documentation based on anecdotal records, leading to specific diagnosis feedback and remediation.

 

Senior Wing (Classes IX to Xll):

Project work & laboratory practice, Scientific and Mathematics temperament, logical/critical thinking, creativity, decision making, research based activities, technology integrated, practical learning using active learning methods are incorporated at HAS to prepare goal-oriented students.Blended classroom learning also plays an integral role in personality development of the students. There is a flexibility for the students to choose streams as per their interests ranging from technical to arts.

 

Promotion Criteria:

Foundational group to Class V: Students are promoted to the next level of learning (class) based on the grades acquired by them during performance appraisals spread over the academic year.

VI to IX : Students are awarded grades in all subjects to indicate the subjectwise performance. Students obtaining the qualifying grades in all subjects, are promoted to next class.

X, XI, XII: As per CBSE norms.
